The Role of Magnesium Oxide in the Production of High-Grade Lubricating Oil/Fuel

Release time:2026-05-15 Visits:1

In the production of high-grade lubricating oil, lubricants, vanadium inhibitors, and desulfurizers can significantly enhance the compactness and rheology of the lubricating film, reduce ash content, and remove lead and mercury, thereby reducing the environmental pollution caused by lubricating oil or petroleum. The removal of lead and mercury can minimize the environmental impact of lubricating oil or fuel waste. Surface-treated magnesium oxide can also be used as a complexing agent, chelating agent, or carrier in the oil refining process, which is more conducive to fractionation and improving product quality. Especially when magnesium oxide is added during the combustion of heavy oil, it can eliminate the damage caused by vanadic acid in heavy oil to the furnace.

The vanadium corrosion inhibitor not only has a very good inhibitory effect on vanadium corrosion, but also has the function of a detergent and dispersant, which can prevent the corrosion caused by sulfur during fuel combustion. When the fuel vanadium corrosion inhibitor is added to the fuel, during combustion, the MgO in the inhibitor combines with harmful substances such as V2O5 in the fuel to form high-melting-point vanadium and magnesium compounds, raising the melting point of the vanadium-containing ash in the gas turbine, preventing the corrosion caused by harmful substances, and forming loose ash that is carried away by the hot flue gas.

The high-purity magnesium oxide developed and produced by Wanfeng Group features high content, high whiteness and low impurities. After special treatment, it is particularly suitable for the production of vanadium suppressants. Moreover, it can be specially customized and developed to produce the required magnesium oxide products according to the demands of manufacturers.
